SANT JORDI 2017, CULMINACIÓ DE L'ANY DAMIÀ HUGUET

INTERVIEW TO UBALDO

This year, we have had an auxiliar coming from Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), whose name is Ubaldo del Toro. We have learnt a lot from him, and we think he has learnt a lot from us too. We have laughed a lot and we will miss him, his jokes and his answers in Spanish...
Now that Ubaldo is leaving us, we are going to ask him some questions and you will know him more.

Did you enjoy the experience on the island?
I did enjoy my experience on the island, it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
What activities did you do?
I went cycling, hiking, I went to ‘es Cap de Formentor’… a very far, nice and beautiful place.
Which part of the island did you like the most?
The part of the island which I enjoyed the most would be Valldemossa.
Have you visited other countries during your stay here? Have you been to other places (of Spain) rather than Mallorca?
No, not during my stay here but before I’ve been to: France, The Netherlands and Belgium. I’ve been to San Sebastián and this year, I went to Madrid, it’s a very nice place and a very big city. But I personally recommend, if you’re looking for an authentic experience: to come to Mallorca.
Why did you decide to come here?
I decided to come here because I’ve never lived on an Island before and it has been a unique experience.
Have you ever worked with children or teenagers before?
Yes, I have. When I was living in San Sebastián I also did the auxiliary position and I was working at a primary and high school.
What differences have you found between Spanish and American schools?
The biggest difference between schools would be the attitude that the actual students carry while they’re here at school. Here in Porreres… one of the best attitudes that I’ve ever seen, in general.
And, speaking of IES Porreres. Did you like the activities that we’ve done? Which one has been your favorite?
Yes, from Sant Antoni to every other cultural event. Sant Antoni was my favorite, though…
What did you like the most about the Spanish culture?
The thing that I’ve liked the most about the Spanish culture would be the friendliness of the people.
Did you expect Spanish people to be like this?
No, I did not! My expectations are surpassed, they are great people. Specially in the village.
What are you going to do when you leave Mallorca?
When I leave, I will do the conversation auxiliary position that I do here in Granada, Andalusia. So, I will continue this experience in the south of Spain.
What do you think about this experience?
Hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had in my life, being able to become a part of a family. I see this school more as a family that as a job.
Would you recommend this experience to anyone that wants to come?
I would definitely recommend this journey to anybody who want to experience a new culture.
Mark your experience here from 1 to 10.
11, hahaha.
Can you tell us an anecdote from your stay here?
I’ve soaked up the sun.
Have you learnt anything from Mallorca?
Yes, “A poc a poc” and “tira-tira”.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future…hopefully getting married and keep travelling while meeting new cultures.

We’d like to let you know that we’ve loved running with you. Sports are the best!
Thanks, Ubaldo. Good luck! We'll miss you!

DIGITAL STORYTELLING

Maria Antònia Mut
During this year, some of the students in ESO 4 have been introduced to storytelling and got involved in a little project to create our own collaborative stories. This way, a group of students in 4A and in 4B have created their own versions of the story: Keep Calm, You Are The Chosen One.

What would you expect to happen in a sotry starting ' I would have never imagined that this could happen to me. Am I really the chosen one?

Here you have the links to the stories that we have come through in the end.
